Interest in intelligent machines started for me during high school when I built a Tic-tac-toe machine from plans in Popular Mechanics. I still have that machine, and here are some other things I have accumulated:

  • a BA degree in Physics from St. Olaf College, Northfield, Minnesota, starting my programming career there in the Mathematics Department,
  • working at seeming cross purposes by programming Hospital administration software, as well as Torpedo design to manufacturing risk assessment software,
  • nearly 40 years of computer programming, repair and support experience including on Univac 1219B, Cray at the University of Minnesota, assemblers, COBOL, as well as programming BASIC on Intel 8088's, and now the world of Microsoft Windows.

At CMRR my duties are:

  • primary support of Personal Computers, Windows or Macintosh, for the Director, Staff and Researchers,
  • installing computing hardware and software, resolving related difficulties,
  • evaluating and purchasing PC computer and network equipment,
  • working for John Strupp and with Brian Hanna to meet CMRR's computing needs.
