Importing Certificates

With the move to secure communications, you will want to accept two certificates in your browser for our website. Certificates are the keys used for encryption. (There is one certificate for mail.cmrr.umn.edu, and one for www.cmrr.umn.edu.) Here are the step-by-step instructions for accepting the certificates, depending on your browser.

Netscape 7.1 / Mozilla Certificate Import

Internet Explorer 6 Certificate Import

Email Client Configuration

Here are step-by-step instructions on the setup for secure IMAP and POP for various email clients. Remember, you can now use the new CMRR webmail to securely read your email anywhere. This may be easier and more convenient for you than setting up an email client.

Netscape 7 Email Configuration

Mozilla Thunderbird Email Configuration

Filtering

Getting overwhelmed by all the email? Take advantage of the built-in filtering/sorting tools in modern email clients. These programs can automatically sort your email into folders for you.

"mail.cmrr.umn.edu" not "your-internet-id.mail.umn.edu"

"your-CMRR-id" not "your-internet-id (x.500 id)"

"your-CMRR-id@cmrr.umn.edu" not "your-internet-id@umn.edu"
