The physics department is interested in obtaining some measurements and adjusting the stimulus device for the researchers to use. During this time, approximately 1 week, the CP coil would not be available for use at the mock scanner. Anyone who needs to use the CP Head coil at the 3T will still be able to use the functioning coil in the cabinets. Please let me know if anyone has any concerns or questions regarding this. Or if any one is planning on using the mock scanner or non-functional CP Head Coil in the near future, let me know and we can accommodate you. This could potentially be a problem for a number of data and safety reasons. The power switch is located to the right of the door next to a panel with a small green light. If this light is off someone has flipped the power off to the door. I imagine it was accidentally turned off when someone mistook it for a light switch. This however should never be turned off. In short time I will create a display to make it explicitly clear where the switch is and what to do to make sure the door is activated. Also always been conscious of flipping any switches or pressing any buttons at the 3T. If you don't know what a particular switch or button does, DO NOT push it to find out. Let me know if anyone has any questions about this. If you have any unsaved data on this computer please let me know immediately as I will begin deleting subjects in the next couple of days. As always remember any data on the 3T scan computer is subject to be deleted sometimes without any notice, please archive all of your data accordingly. Please see my email from August below and make sure you go over these requirements. It is very IMPORTANT to have an IRB approved procedure in all our protocols to deal with incidental abnormal imaging findings during research scanning. We now have a CMRR policy regarding this which is explained on our website (see link below). Essentially we have a Radiologist who agreed to look at suspicious images and recommend follow-up or not. This service is $50 per subject and you will need to include this in the budgets of your future grants. If you do not have funds to cover this service during this transition period, GCRC agreed to pay for it. To make it easier for the PIs we have created a text that you can copy from the website and insert into your consents. This language is already approved by the IRB, so all you need is to send a copy of the new consent to the IRB with a cover letter (we can even provide you with a template if you like). Deb will be happy to help you with this process if you need. If you have/prefer a different procedure in your project to deal with incidental findings, you need to get IRB approval for that and the appropriate consent. But you do need to have a procedure to deal with this issue. Thank you for your attention to this matter. Let me know if you have questions. These include the IRB approved language that needs to go in our consent forms. The address of the page is: http://www.cmrr.umn.edu/internal/HumanSubjects.shtml Please review if you work with human subjects and check for updates that will soon be added regarding abnormal imaging findings at 4 and 7T. Let me know if you have any questions. Gulin -- G?lin ?z, PhD Assistant Professor Center for Magnetic Resonance Research University of Minnesota 2021 6th St. SE.
