MR Neuroimaging Data Analysis Technician

The University of Minnesota's Center for Magnetic Resonance Research (http://www.cmrr.umn.edu) in partnership with Mayo Clinical College of Medicine has established a Neuroscience Core Center (NCC) to expand and enhance NIH funded neuroscience research. The CMRR/Mayo NCC invites applications for a MR Neuroimaging Data Analysis Technician position which involves training and assisting neuroscience research collaborators in post processing of their MRI data using state of the art image analysis methodologies. The duties include, but are not limited to:

  1. Assist with the data analysis for studies that involve large amounts of data that need reduction and normalization across studies.
  2. Provide basic training in the use of neuroimaging analysis & visualization tools to collaborating researchers to optimize their use of the imaging data results.
  3. Perform the pilot studies and comparison studies needed to validate new algorithms.
  4. Perform validation testing needed to debug pipelines.
  5. Collaborate with developers to optimize user interfaces for newly developed routines.

Required Qualifications:

  • A B.Sc. or M.Sc. in Engineering, Computer Science, Physics or other related field is required.
  • The candidate must be familiar with the Unix operating systems, have some computer programming experience in C/C++, be proficient at writing shell scripts (csh, bourne, etc) and be well versed in a numerical computing environment such as Matlab, IDL or similar.
  • Excellent oral and written English communication skills are required.
  • The candidate must be able to work both independently and cooperatively with others, and be willing to learn a variety of techniques through one on one tutorials and self directed study.

Preferred Qualifications of this position:

Familiarity with fMRI post processing methodologies and analysis packages (e.g. Stimulate, FSL, SPM, AFNI and/or Brain Voyager) would be an advantage.
