REQUIREMENTS

Hardware:
Sun or SGI workstation

Operating Systems: (FAQ)

  • SunOS 4.1.x
  • Solaris 2.x
  • Irix 5.3, 6.x

Memory:
Typically at the CMRR we configure our systems with 128 Megabytes of RAM and 1 Gigabyte of Swapspace. The amount of memory you need depends on the the size of the data you want to analyze. For a typical fMRI study with 100 image volumes of a 64x64 matrix and 32 slices:

volumes x width x height x planes x bytes per complex pixel
100 * 64 * 64 * 32 * 8 = 100 Megabytes

For such a study you'd need at least 128 Megabytes of swapspace. Swapspace is the amount of virtual memory the operating system makes available to programs when they are run. RAM on the otherhand is the amount of physical memory your workstation has. The more RAM you have the faster you can process data, but it is the swapspace which determines whether you can process the data at all. As a general "rule of thumb" you should have at least twice as much swapspace as RAM.

Download: (FAQ)
You must download the executable and installation script for the particular Operating System of your workstation via the web or by anonymous ftp. Then run the installation script, stimInstall.sh.

Authorization code:
You must obtain an authorization string which is specific to your particular workstation based on its hostid (hostid).
