Tagged Image File Format

The ``TIFF'' (Tagged Image File Format)[10] option allows for saving an image mosaic as an 8 bit, index color tiff image. The TIFF option popup window is as shown in Figure 48. The Plane Offset field (14-2) and the Number Planes field (14-3) on the Main Window, determine which planes are used in the tiff image mosaic. The Image Width field (48-3) allows for expanding the image by multiples of its original dimension. If a border around each image in the mosaic is desired, the Border Width field (48-4) allows multiples of 8. The color of the border is shown in the color bar (48-1) and is selected by the Border Color field (48-2). The Number of Columns field (48-5) specifies how many image columns are used in the mosaic. The size of a Right Hand Side (RHS) fiducial for Axial and Coronal image volumes can be specified with the RHS Fiducial Width field (48-6). The Layout choice (48-7) allows for the mosaic to be either ``Portrait'' or ``Landscape''. Since most images with the default grayscale lut have large black areas, the default is to have the Invert Lut option selected (48-8), in order to save ink on color printers. Prior to saving the image, the Preview ... button (48-10) allows for viewing of the mosaic with the current options specified. An example of a 3 column tiff image mosaic preview is shown in Figure 49. When the mosiac options are set as desired, pressing the Save button (48-9), will write the tiff image mosaic to a file.
