Description
A 1000 sq. ft. Faraday-shielded high-power RF laboratory is used for conducting heating studies on phantoms and animal models in order to validate electromagnetic and thermal simulations. The RF safety lab is equipped with a custom-built transmit array system, an RF Faraday cage and a 3D measurement system equipped with fluoroptic temperature probes, magnetic field, and SAR probes allowing for EM field and SAR validation studies to be conducted with phantoms. The transmit array system consists of an RF signal generator, phase and gain controller, and 16 broadband RF power amplifiers( 40-450 MHz). An oscilloscope, power meter, and a network analyzer quantify the coil’s input power. A 3D measurement system can be programmed to sample fields with sub-millimeter accuracy in a volume of 500 x 500 x 700 mm.
